Kyrgyzstan, China debate resumption of Torugart checkpoint’s activity

Bishkek, Aug. 19, 2020 /Kabar/. Today, Aug. 19 another phone talk between Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov and State Councilor, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi took place.

"Topical directions and prospects of bilateral cooperation, including the issues of early resumption of the Torugart checkpoint’s activity, arrival of specialists from China to implement existing joint Kyrgyz-Chinese infrastructure projects, as well as export of Kyrgyz organic agricultural products to China were discussed,” the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.

In light of the negative impact of coronavirus infection on the macroeconomic situation, the Kyrgyz FM expressed a request for assistance in the issue of easing the burden of foreign debt on the country's budget.

Speaking about cooperation in overcoming the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, Aidarbekov expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for the provision of regular substantial humanitarian assistance to combat coronvairus.

During the phone call, the Kyrgyzstani minister extended condolences over large-scale floods in central and southern China, which resulted in numerous human casualties and considerable destruction.
