Bishkek, Feb. 15, 2021 / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan clarified about 10% more disputed areas with Uzbekistan, special representative of the government for border issues Nazirbek Borubaev told at a briefing.
He recalled that in 2017, the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan signed a document to clarify 1,170 km of borders, which is 85% of the total length.
“We are working on the rest of parts. For today, they have specified about 10% more,” he said.
Nazirbek Borubaev noted that now there are many questions in the society that the land was transferred to neighbors, sold. However, he assured that this is not true.
“We have documents, cartography, on the basis of which we work. We put the interests of the state above. We have a principle that not a single meter of our land goes to them, and their meter of land does not go to us,” he said.
The special representative of the government on border issues added that now the ratified areas are planned to be marked and transferred to the Border Service.
Nazirbek Borubaev also said that due to the pandemic, the talks were also suspended from the Uzbek side, after the arrival of the new government in the Kyrgyz Republic, work continued.
