Employees of the Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Specially Protected Areas of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (SAEPF) completed recording of wild animals and birds in Kyrgyzstan, the SAEPF reported.
SAEPF employees, representatives of the Panther and SLT public funds, public and non-governmental organizations and local rangers were involved in order to comprehensively record wildlife and birds.
Accounting was conducted for main hunting species of wild animals, as well as rare and endangered species listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan.
More than 400 people were involved in the accounts. Basically, the event is held in mountainous conditions over 3000-4000 meters above sea level.
According to the latest data, there has been an increase in the number of resident wild animals in Kyrgyzstan. Currently, the number of resident wild animals in Kyrgyzstan is 46,161 heads of ibex, 4,760 heads of roe deer, and over 3,000 boars.
"In addition, three species of argali, listed in Kyrgyzstan's Red Book inhabit in the republic: Marco Polo sheep, Tian-Shan argali, Severtsov Sheep. Their total number today is over 16,000," the report says.
