Kyrgyzstan considers Iran as political and economic partner in the region

Bishkek, April 27 / Kabar /. Within the framework of the official visit to Iran, the parliamentary delegation headed by Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Chynybay Tursunbekov met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported.

During the meeting, the sides held a thorough exchange of views on the entire range of Kyrgyz-Iranian cooperation. The sides touched upon the further strengthening and expansion of political, interparliamentary, cultural and economic ties, joint measures to prevent threats and challenges of terrorism and extremism in the region.

Speaker Tursunbekov stressed that the development of friendly relations with Iran is one of the priority directions of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy. "We regard Iran as a political and economic partner in the region and in particular in the Islamic world, and are interested in deepening the all-round partnership for the benefit of the development of our states," he said and added that the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan, as the supreme legislative, representative body, will support Intensification of relations in all areas of cooperation.

Tursunbekov emphasized that the exchange of visits at the highest level, as well as intensification of inter-parliamentary relations, testifies a new stage in the relationship between Kyrgyzstan and Iran and opens up opportunities for the full realization of the current potential between the two countries.

"Today, thanks to its commitment to traditional Islamic principles and decisive steps in the political, economic and socio-cultural spheres, Iran has managed to occupy a worthy place among the countries of the world community. Iran plays a leading role in ensuring peace and stability in the region," the Kyrgyz Speaker said and congratulated the interlocutor and the entire Iranian people on the practical implementation of the "Joint comprehensive action plan to resolve the situation around Iran's nuclear program."

The Iranian Foreign Minister said that the Iranian side welcomes the strengthening of partnership relations with Kyrgyzstan, both in political and economic and other spheres, which has chosen the path of parliamentary democracy. "Iran is ready to continue and expand its all-round interaction with Kyrgyzstan," he said.

At the end of the meeting, Tursunbekov wished successful holding of the upcoming presidential elections in Iran, scheduled for May 19, 2017.
