Bishkek, July 15, 2020. /Kabar/. Due to coronavirus pandemic, Kyrgyzstan has consumed a year’s supply of medicines in two months, Director of the Department of Drug Provision and Medical Equipment Gulmira Shakirova told Wednesday.
She explained that medicines were mostly bought up by the population in advance.
"We have faced attempts to speculate on the prices of medicines, as well as attempts to export drugs by individuals amid aggravation of the situation with coronavirus, despite the fact that pharmaceutical business has taken a package of facilitating measures.
The Department has organized a call center, through hotline we receive signals from citizens about attempts to profit against the backdrop of coronavirus. In total, 27 criminal cases related to illegal activities of drug trafficking have been initiated so far together with the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes. Such actions of individual legal and physical persons in the middle of coronavirus pandemic led to deepening deficit of drugs, and prices for them rose sharply,” Shakirova added.
According to her, today the Ministry of Health has revised the list of drugs used to treat coronavirus.
"The new list consists of 56 items, of which 8 key and scarce medicines have been selected. The main drugs are Clexane, Fraxyparine, Flenox, Enixum. There's still a high demand for these drugs today. Over the past 2 weeks (July 1-14), almost 21 thousand packages of anticoagulants have arrived in the country, they were sold out during the first hours.
Medicines arrived have already been placed in certain pharmacies. Over 22 thousand packages of anticoagulants are expected to arrive by July 20. However, this amount is also not enough. In this regard, additional supplies from China, India, Pakistan and the CIS countries are discussed," said the head of the department.
