Bishkek, March 2, 2022 . / Kabar /. Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev held on Wednesday a meeting with the Department of Medicines and Medical Products and the Pharmaceutical Union of Kyrgyzstan on the reduction of barriers to ensure drug safety in the country.
During the meeting, representatives of pharmaceutical firms in Kyrgyzstan expressed concern about the current crisis situation in the world, particularly in Russia and Ukraine, the press service of the Health Ministry reported.
Head of the Pharmaceutical Union of Kyrgyzstan Ernis Asanov noted that Kyrgyzstan imports medicines and medical products from more than 30 countries.
"The share of supplies from Russia and Ukraine is about 60% of all imports into the country. Due to the current situation between the two countries, all orders placed in Ukraine have been cancelled and the possibility of resuming supplies remains unknown. In addition, taking into account that sanctions measures are imposed against Russia by most countries, Russian producers have suspended shipments of goods for an indefinite period of time. There are also concerns that due to the sanctions, many European manufacturers may stop supplying medicines and medical devices to Russia, which will inevitably lead to the cessation of exports by Russian manufacturers, and reorient them to cover the needs of their domestic market,” said Asanov.
He noted that, given all of the above, representatives of the pharmaceutical business proposed to suspend the pilot project on price regulation until the stabilization of the global pharmaceutical market, followed by a review based on real prices.
"Allow the importation of socially important medicines and medical devices with different labeling, suspend the requirement for mandatory importation of drug packaging in compliance with national requirements," Asanov added.
In turn, Minister Beishenaliev noted that the availability of essential medicines and medical products, their uninterrupted delivery is extremely important for the republic.
"I understand the importance of this situation, and the Ministry of Health is ready to work on this issue and do everything possible to make the most correct decision. Since the health of the population, providing them with quality and necessary medicines is one of the priorities in the work of the ministry,” he noted.
At the end of the meeting, the minister instructed relevant specialists to create a working group, as soon as possible to work on this issue and make proposals.
