Bishkek, Jan. 16, 2024 /Kabar/. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan delivered humanitarian aid to Palestine, the ministry’s press service reported.
Earlier, Minister Boobek Azhikeyev held telephone conversations with Head of the Palestinian Civil Defense Directorate, Alabed Ibrahim Abdul Salam Khalil, during which the urgent need to provide humanitarian assistance to the affected population in the Gaza Strip was discussed.
Thus, on December 22-23, 2023, necessary goods and food products were purchased in Russia and the humanitarian cargo was delivered to Palestine by air transport of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. A special flight of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations landed at the Egyptian airport with 5.5 tons of humanitarian aid from Kyrgyzstan, which included food, bottled water, bedding and shoes for residents of the Gaza Strip. After unloading, the humanitarian aid was transferred to the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, which sent it to the population of Gaza.
Currently, the death toll as a result of Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 23 thousand people, most of whom are women and children. More than 57 thousand residents of the Palestinian exclave were injured. This number is increasing every day. 60% of the city's infrastructure has been destroyed, and the refugee camp suffers from shortages of food, water and medicine.
The World Health Organization (WHO) is sounding the alarm, saying the humanitarian crisis is leading to an increase in infectious diseases in the region.
In turn, Kyrgyzstan expresses hope for a speedy resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the parties will resolve the situation through quick negotiations and mutual understanding, where the war, which causes the death of innocent people, will stop.
