Bishkek, June 12, 2019. /Kabar/. The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic has developed the measures to increase the availability of medicines designed to treat rare diseases for the first time, the Government’s press service reported.
The Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Circulation of Medicines” dated Aug. 2, 2017, states that “a special list of medicines temporarily allowed for importation and medical use without registration shall include medicines to meet the need for orphan drugs, i.e. it gives the right to import the medicine without registration if it is included in this list."
In order to ensure the accessibility of patients suffering from orphan diseases, as well as the protection of their rights, according to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Circulation of Medicines”, Deputy Prime Minister Altynay Omurbekova gave instructions to develop a List of Orphan Diseases.
The expert group, established by the Health Ministry of the Kyrgyz Republic, has developed the List of Orphan Diseases , which includes 41 diseases to define the list if orphan medicines.
Orphan diseases (rare disease) - diseases that are rarely found in the population, are chronic, life-threatening or cause disability of the patient, as well as requiring for their treatment specific means (orphan drugs).
