Bishkek, Aug. 27, 2024. / Kabar/. Special Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic for the implementation of the Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions Dinara Kemelova held a meeting with Head of the UNICEF Representative Office in the Kyrgyz Republic Samman Jung Thapa.
During the meeting, issues of improving the socio-economic conditions for children living in mountainous areas were discussed, including ensuring access to education, health care, clean water, energy and sanitation. Particular attention was paid to promoting the digitalization of remote mountainous areas. The parties also discussed support for youth initiatives aimed at responding to climate challenges and sustainable development of mountainous regions.
The head of the UNICEF Representative Office familiarized the Special Representative of the President with the results of the cluster survey of the situation of children and women in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2023 on key socio-economic indicators. The interlocutors emphasized the importance of further cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UNICEF within the framework of the implementation of the Roadmap “On declaring the period 2023-2027 as the Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions.”
