Bishkek, Dec. 22, 2021 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyzstan has been elected to the Evaluation Body of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.
On Dec. 18, the 16th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage completed its work in the UNESCO Headquarters (Paris, France).
During the meeting of the Committee, elections to the Evaluation Body of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage took place.
As a result of the voting, among three countries of the Asia-Pacific Group - China, Indonesia and Kyrgyzstan - candidates for this elective body, Kyrgyzstan, which was represented by the Aigine Cultural Research Center, an accredited NGO to UNESCO, received the greatest number of votes of the Committee members and was elected to the Evaluation Body.
The Evaluation Body is composed of twelve members appointed by the Committee: six experts qualified in the various fields of the intangible cultural heritage representatives of States Parties non-Members of the Committee and six accredited non-governmental organizations, taking into consideration equitable geographical representation and various domains of intangible cultural heritage.
