Bishkek, Jan. 15, 2025. / Kabar /. During the visit of the delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Asein Isaev held talks with State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia Misganu Arga.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said that during the meeting, Asein Isaev conveyed the Ethiopian side a message from President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov addressed to President of Ethiopia Taye Atske-Selassie.
Misganu Arga highly appreciated the visit of the Kyrgyz delegation, noting that this is a demonstration of Kyrgyzstan to develop its relations with African countries. The Ethiopian diplomat emphasized that the city of Addis Ababa is the political capital of Africa and opens up the opportunity for all countries of the world to be represented in Africa. In this regard, he expressed hope that Kyrgyzstan will also be represented in Addis Ababa, and the readiness of the Ethiopian side to provide the necessary assistance.
The sides noted the coincidence of positions on current issues on the international agenda. The Ethiopian state minister emphasized the need to combine efforts in the field of South-South cooperation.
In addition, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation in the field of tourism, economics and education, as well as the need to expand the legal framework between the two states.
The Kyrgyz deputy minister also held a meeting with Director General of Civil Aviation of Ethiopia Getachew Mengesti. During the meeting, the possibilities of cooperation in the field of air traffic between the two countries were discussed.
The Ethiopian Airlines is the largest airline in Africa with more than 160 aircraft and direct flights to more than 140 destinations.
In this context, the Ethiopian side proposed signing a Memorandum of Cooperation between the aviation services of the Kyrgyz Republic and Ethiopia, and also expressed its readiness to study the issue of opening a direct flight between Bishkek and Addis Ababa and opening cargo transportation that could potentially connect Kyrgyzstan with key hubs in Africa, Europe and Asia.
