Bishkek, March 12, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan will evacuate small compatriots from Syria.

Press secretary of the President Galina Baiterek said that the issue of the return of fellow citizens was one of the top priorities on the agenda of the incumbent President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov. “Immediately after the October events, he instructed to work out the possibility of such an operation, negotiations were underway with the Syrian side,” she said.

Baiterek noted that first of all, small Kyrgyzstanis, who were taken out by their parents, will be returned to their homeland.

“Note that the greatest outflow of our compatriots fell during the years of the rule of Atambaev-Jeenbekov. And the former heads of state did not take any action to stop the outflow of compatriots. Meanwhile, whole families traveled to Syria through Turkey, including the elderly parents of the newly-minted fighters,” she said.

According to the Ministry of Justice, a special delegation will be sent to evacuate small Kyrgyzstanis. Most likely, their mothers will be returned from the combat zone together with the children.

“However, each specific case of the return of compatriots will be carefully studied by representatives of the special delegation, each of the compatriots for return will have to undergo a thorough check and then be under the supervision of the relevant law enforcement agencies. Such a measure will be taken to understand the reasons why citizens left the country; what moods they predominate after returning,” the president’s press secretary said.

Since 2013, thousands of immigrants from Central Asia have gone to the war zone in the Middle East. Earlier, operations to return fellow citizens were carried out by the authorities of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
