Bishkek, Oct.10, 2024. /Kabar/. The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) has concluded the first deal on the sale of textile raw materials by a resident of Kyrgyzstan, BelTA reported.
Previously, the import of these products from Kyrgyzstan was not carried out through the exchange platform. The counterparty in the transaction was one of the largest domestic light industry enterprises, and the subject of the purchase was 70 thousand meters of calico - unprocessed fabric made of cotton fiber.
BUCE reported that the commodity nomenclature of exchange trade between Kyrgyzstan and Belarus has been actively expanding since 2024. Thus, if in 2022-2023 the basis of mutual trade turnover was the supply of Belarusian sugar and lumber to the Kyrgyz market, this year the structure of exchange transactions included a number of dairy products, the share of which in value terms has now reached about 80%.
“Kyrgyzstan, as well as other member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, is among the priority markets for the development of exchange trading. Currently, 30 Kyrgyz economic entities are accredited at the exchange, and the amount of transactions made by them has increased almost two and a half times compared to January-September last year.
Export sales of Belarusian butter, skim milk powder and rennet cheese made the biggest contribution to the increase in the exchange trade turnover with this Central Asian country.
In addition, purchases of sugar for Kyrgyzstan's food industry continued. Import of calico is a new promising area of cooperation, which gave Belarusian textile manufacturers an additional opportunity to purchase the raw materials they need. Along with Kyrgyzstan, similar cooperation has been established with suppliers of cotton yarn from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan,” the press service of BUCE said.
