Tashkent, Nov.29, 2019. /Kabar/. "The Kyrgyz side is firmly committed to ensuring regional security," President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed at the Second Consultative Meeting of Heads of Central Asian States in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
He said the situation in Afghanistan and the Middle East, the spread of ISIS and other radical groups' ideology in the region continues to cause deep concern.
“The active propaganda and recruitment of our compatriots into the ranks of terrorist mercenaries is becoming an alarming factor for our region. I believe that only through active joint efforts we can effectively counter the threat of international terrorism and extremism," he said, noting that the Kyrgyz side is firmly committed to ensuring regional security.
As he noted, one of the most important issues for today is to increase the level of understanding and security at the borders. In this regard, it is more than ever necessary to continue joint work to complete the legalization of the state borders as soon as possible.
“Despite the complexity of this work, it is necessary to move forward and seek compromises. There is importance to make every effort to maintain stability and further strengthen mutual trust on our borders. I urge to deepen cooperation between our border and customs structures, territorial security and internal affairs bodies, local authorities,” Sooronbay Jeenbekov said.
The Second Consultative Meeting of Heads of Central Asian State in Tashkent is being attended by Presidents of Kyrgyzstan-Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Tajikistan-Emomali Rahmon, Turkmenistan- Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, Uzbekistan- Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
