Bishkek, Nov. 24, 2021 . / Kabar / . First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Biybosunov met with Aleksander Kwasniewski, former president of Poland and member of the Global Commission on Drug Policy of Eastern and Central Europe and Central Asia.
The press service of the Interior Ministry reported that the meeting was also attended by members of the Global Commission on Drug Policy Pavel Bem, Michel Kazatchkine, Elvira Surabaldieva, Professor of the European University Institute of Latvia Andris Pibal, WHO Special Envoy for the European Region Vytenis Andruikaitis and Head of the Service for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking of the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry Ulanbek Sultanov.
During the meeting, a number of issues on further strengthening cooperation and interaction in the field of law enforcement, in the fight against drug-related crime, development of effective and sustainable policies aimed at the prevention of drug use, control and regulation of narcotic substances at the regional and national levels were discussed.
"With the assistance of specialized UN institutions, Kyrgyzstan has formed effective legislation in the field of drug control and adopted a number of strategic planning documents, including the Anti-Drug Program of the Kyrgyz government, which formulated the basic principles of national drug policy.
We hope to fully complete the implementation of international law in this area, to bring our legislation closer to high international standards. In this matter, cooperation with the Commission on Drug Policy of Eastern Europe and Central Asia can bring some positive results," First Deputy Minister Biybosunov said.
