Kyrgyzstan has closed its border with China: PM Abylgaziev

Bishkek, Jan.27, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan has closed its border with China, Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev said at the meeting of the Government.

According to him, the border with China has been closed since Jan. 23 due to the Chinese New Year celebrations.

The PM added that Kyrgyzstan is taking a number of measures to prevent the infection of the Chinese coronavirus.

In particular, he noted that security measures have been taken at all border crossings in Kyrgyzstan, whether by air, road or rail.

"We have installed thermal imaging cameras and also sanitary stations at 22 border checkpoints,” he said.

In addition, an operational headquarters, headed by Deputy PM Altynai Omurbekova has been established.

At the Government’s meeting Health Minister of Kyrgyzstan Cholponbek Bazarbayev said vaccine against coronavirus has not yet been created in the world.

"The incubation period for coronavirus is 14 days. The peculiarity of this virus is that it can be detected within 14 days, during which time another person can get infected," he said.

According to the health minister, Kyrgyzstan has two international accredited laboratories. In addition, there is a stock of syringes, antibiotics and masks.
