Bishkek, April 18, 2023. /Kabar/. The Russian company Inter RAO began supplying electricity to Kyrgyzstan in transit through Kazakhstan from April 15, 2023, the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The daily volume of electricity supply is 3.6-5.3 million kWh, based on the zones of the day and days of supply.

Currently, the supply is up to 400 MW per hour. The daily volumes of electricity supplies depend on the capacity of the electrical networks of the Kazakhstani energy system. Daily schedules for the supply of electricity are agreed daily with the transit company for the capacity of electricity transit. So, today, according to operational data, the import of electricity from the Russian Federation amounted to 9.2 million kWh, the report said.

Inter RAO and JSC Electric Stations of Kyrgyzstan signed an Agreement for the supply of electricity from the Russian Federation to the Kyrgyz Republic for the period from March 2023 to March 2024 in the amount of 873.9 million kWh, including 313 .5 million kWh in the 1st quarter of 2024.

These measures were taken in order to prevent the drawdown of the Toktogul reservoir to a critical level and reduce the shortage of electricity in the Kyrgyz energy system in 2023-2024.

The supply of electricity is carried out on the border of Russia and Kazakhstan through interstate power lines. Technical support for the transit of electricity through the territory of Kazakhstan is carried out by a separate Agreement with the system operator of the Kazakh energy system JSC "KEGOC".

The price and cost of electricity depend on the zones of the day in relation to the supplied electricity, according to the terms of the contract, the price of electricity is confidential information and is not subject to disclosure.
