Bishkek, March 4, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan will import 900 million kWh of electricity from Kazakhstan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev said on Thursday at a news briefing.
He noted the agreement was reached during a state visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to Kazakhstan on March 2-3, which was held at the invitation of Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to the agreement, Kyrgyzstan will return electricity in installments over the next 2-3 years.
The foreign minister noted the sides have also agreed on Kyrgyzstan's provision of irrigation water to Kazakhstan during the growing season.
