Bishkek, Jan.20, 2020. /Kabar/. According to preliminary data, a total of 972,900 tons of oil products were imported into Kyrgyzstan in 2019, the press service of the Association of Oil Traders of the Kyrgyz Republic said Monday.
453.8 thousand tons of gasoline and 519.1 thousand tons of diesel fuel were supplied.
"Note that oil traders fully cover the needs of the country in fuel and lubricants, thus realizing their main task of providing Kyrgyzstan with oil products, while preventing any deficit," the report says.
The main and only source of fuel and lubricants supplies to Kyrgyzstan is the Russian Federation.
"Due to the high level of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia achieved and supported by the country's leadership, oil products deliveries are exempt from export duties. This form of support from the Russian side allows Kyrgyz consumers to save significant amounts: for example, in 2019, savings on duties amounted to USD 27.2 million," added the oil traders.
In addition, the Association of Oil Traders and the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation have signed on Jan.15, 2019 a cooperation agreement.
Thus, according to the forecasts of the Agriculture Ministry, the demand for fuel and lubricants in 2019 amounted to 115.7 thousand tons, including 90.6 thousand tons of diesel fuel and 25.1 thousand tons of gasoline.
The Association fully covered farmers' demand for fuel and lubricants.
