Kyrgyzstan increases fine for shooting snow leopard

Bishkek, July 17, 2024 . / Kabar / . The amount of fine for calculating penalties for damage to wildlife has been increased, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan said.

The Cabinet of Ministers issued a resolution on amendments to the size of fine for calculating the amount of penalties for damage caused to objects of fauna and flora, mummies-containing mineral raw materials and mushrooms by legal entities and individuals.

The main purpose of increasing the fine is to create an effective system of protection of fauna and flora objects, to ensure improved protection of biodiversity and to develop a unified approach to increasing the number of wild animals and flora.

Thus, the amount of fines amounted to:

- snow leopard - KGS 2 million (was KGS 1.5 million);

- mountain sheep (argali), brown bear, red deer (maral), gazelle - KGS 1.5 million (was KGS 1 million);

- goat - KGS 300 thousand (was KGS 100 thousand);

- roe deer - KGS100 thousand (was KGS 50 thousand ).

Vigilant citizens will be able to receive a 50% reward.
