Kyrgyzstan increases production of meat, milk and eggs

Bishkek, Aug. 22, 2024. / Kabar/. The Ministry of Agriculture provided information on livestock production as of August 1.

Meat production. During the reporting period of 2024, economic entities of all categories produced 231.3 thousand tons of meat, which is 3298 tons or 1.4% more than in the same period last year.

The increase in meat production in the republic is mainly due to the growth in the number of farm animals.

According to the results of livestock accounting as of the end of 2023, the number of cattle in the republic increased by 18.8 thousand heads compared to last year, sheep and goats by 15.1 thousand heads, horses by 8.5 thousand heads and poultry by 620.0 thousand heads.

Milk production. In January-July 2024, 1046.4 thousand tons were produced in the republic, which is 26088 tons or 2.6% more than in the same period last year.

The increase in milk production in the republic is due to the growth of the number of dairy cows by 16.5 thousand heads compared to last year and improved productivity of cows, while the average milk yield per cow for the reporting period increased by 17.9 kg and amounted to 1162.1 kg.

Egg production. During the reporting period, 460184 thousand eggs were produced in the republic, which is 43554 thousand more or 110.5% compared to the corresponding period last year.

Egg production has increased in all regions of the republic.

The increase in egg production is due to the growth of the number of laying hens by 571.1 thousand heads and an increase in the productivity of laying hens.

Wool production. As of August 1, 2024, 13,157.1 tons of wool were produced in the republic, which is 243 tons more, or 101.9% of the same period last year. Wool production has increased in all regions of the republic due to an increase in the number of sheep by 37,609 heads and an increase in the average wool yield from one sheep.
