Kyrgyzstan increases watermelon exports by 360% this year

Bishkek, Dec.25, 2024. /Kabar/. Watermelon exports in 2024 increased by 360%, the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, Land Reclamation and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan reported Wednesday.

Watermelon is one of the melon crops that play an important role in agriculture in Kyrgyzstan. They are most grown in Chui, Osh and Jalal-Abad Oblasts, and the demand for Kyrgyz watermelon abroad is growing every day.

According to the Agriculture Ministry, 252,720 tons of watermelons were harvested in the republic in 2024.

Kyrgyz watermelon is exported to Russia, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries. This year the republic exported 1,376.6 tons of watermelons. Compared to 2023, exports increased by 360%.
