Kyrgyzstan intends to become hub for storing other countries database

Kyrgyzstan intends to become a hub for storing the database of other countries, Adviser to Health Minister, Talant Sultanov reported during the conference dedicated to “Taza Koom” (Pure Society)’s program "Perspectives of Digital Government, Digital Education and Digital Health in the Kyrgyz Republic”.

Today the issue of information security is the most urgent, he said. "Most of the data is now stored in paper form. This is the most unprotected form. In 2010, all documents burned down at Prosecutor General's Office’s fire. In this regard, new technologies will help to ensure safety. Cybersecurity implies the involvement of all opportunities. Estonia in this regard is the most advanced country. Many times hackers tried to break down Estonian security system, but failed to do it. Even if the database would be physically destroyed, they store copies all over Europe, " said Sultanov.

The Prime Minister's adviser stressed that experts advise Kyrgyzstan to become a hub for other countries in storing their database. "Afghanistan is already ready and wants to store its data in our data centers. We have all necessary conditions for construction of the Data Center. There is political will and legal conditions as well " the Prime Minister Adviser said.

Within the Digital Casa project it is planned to build a data processing and storage center in Naryn. The Data Center project is estimated at $ 100 million USD. The Kyrgyz government will act as a co-founder investing 14.1 million dollars. The rest will be implemented at the expense of the private sector, said Talant Sultanov. "That is, the government will keep its data for 10%, and 90% will be given to the private sector who will invest to the project. The private sector will earn their money by storing the data of commercial and other organizations," added Sultanov .

Naryn region is intentionally chosen for construction site of the Data Center. The data processing and storage center needs a region with a cold climate, cheap electricity and high-speed Internet.

Talking about the timing, the project Digital Casa is planned to be implemented within 3-4 years said the Adviser to Health Minister. It is assumed that the Data Center will also be built during this period. "We need companies that will store their data. These are companies like Microsoft and Google, "he said.
