Bishkek, May 30, 2018. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan international, Veniamin Shumeiko has signed with Malaysian Premier League club, UiTM FC, Bryan Lim Sporting Director, Trebol Sports International reported.
After a commendable season in the I-League, the former Chennai City FC defensive lynchpin had harboured strong ambitions to play in the highly competitive Malaysia League and was delighted to complete the move to "The Lion Troops".
"The level of football here is very good for my personal development. After playing in the I-League, this is the next level which I am targeting at. I knew that the club had shown initial interest in me but I was not too sure. When my intermediary, Trebol Sports International confirmed that there was real interest, I did not hesitate to grab this opportunity with both hands," Trebol Sports International reports citing Veniamin Shumeiko.
The 29-year-old had covered himself in glory when he was named by the All Indian Football Federation as one of "I-League's Defensive Giants". He brings along a wealth of valuable experience from winning titles in his home country which included a League and Cup double with FC Alay Osh in 2013, the report said.
"I like the football played here in Malaysia. It is faster and more technical as compared to Indian football which is more about power and guile. I know we have a young team here so I am willing to provide guidance and leadership whenever and wherever the coaches want me to. I will be that role model for them to emulate. I am looking forward to a great finish at the end of the season with my new found teammates," Veniamin Shumeiko said.
