Kyrgyzstan introduces ban on mass events in mosques

Bishkek, Mar.14, 2020./Kabar/. The Ulema Council held on Friday its urgent meeting on the current situation in connection with the declaration of a coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) in the world and measures to prevent it.

According to the press service of the Muftiate, in order to strengthen sanitary-epidemiological measures, the Council decided to:

1. Temporarily ban mass cultural events, conferences, classes in mosques and religious institutions;

2. Shorten the time for Friday sermon;

3.Introduce a restriction on holding dawats (Islamic teachings);

4. Recommend sick and people with poor health not to attend mosques;

5. Disinfect the mosques;

6. Recommend people not to greet by hand and through hugs inside and outside the mosques;

7. In closed and open religious schools, announce a vacation according to the epidemiological situation in the country.

These decisions may be modified or corpuscitated depending on the situation.
