Bishkek, Sept. 5, 2024. / Kabar/. The new rules for registering foreign citizens of eight countries in Kyrgyzstan have come into effect starting from today, September 5, Director of the Population Registration Department under the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic Arsen Minbaev told reporters at Kabar News Agency.
He said that if earlier the registration for foreign citizens who arrived in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic for private purposes, was for a period of six months, now the period will be 60 days. During this time, they will have to obtain a temporary residence permit. "Obtaining a residence permit is not a complicated process, as everyone thinks. To do this, you only need to provide three documents. This applies to persons who arrive in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic for private purposes not related to work, study and entrepreneurial activity, whose registration will be carried out on the basis of a document giving the right to stay in the country depending on the purpose of stay," he said.
Minbaev noted that a residence permit is the basis for them to freely stay in Kyrgyzstan for one year. Then it can be extended to five years, with annual registration.
The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution according to which changes were made to the registration procedure for citizens of countries with a visa-free stay regime: Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Moldova.
