Kyrgyzstan, Iran discuss increase of transit potential of transport corridor

Bishkek, Nov. 15, 2021 / Kabar /. Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev paid a visit to Bandar Abbas, Iran, the ministry's press service reported.

The purpose of this visit is to consider the issue of increasing the transit potential of the transport corridor, along the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran route and further to China, using the Shahid Rajai port, and in the opposite direction, for the transportation of goods not only to China, but also to countries southeast Asia and the Persian Gulf, as well as familiarization with the work of the Shahid Rajai port.

During the visit, Amangeldiev met with governor of Hormozgan province Mohandes Mehdi Dustin and the leadership of the port of Shahid Rajai. In particular, the head of the Ministry of Economic and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic voiced the problematic issues of domestic freight carriers carrying out cargo transportation in the direction of Iran.

Following the visit, the sides agreed to establish an interdepartmental working group to consider the issue of the Iranian side allocating a land plot with appropriate infrastructure for the Kyrgyz Republic.
