Brussels, Nov. 21, 2018. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan has moved ahead of other countries in Central Asia in terms of development of democracy, member of the European Parliament Iveta Grigule told at a meeting with journalists from Central Asia in Brussels.
She noted that the European Union considers Kyrgyzstan an island of democracy in the region.
Grigule added that it’s difficult to compare democracy in Kyrgyzstan and in the European Union or in the west because the traditions are different, the religion is different and the paths of development are different.
The MEP noted that Kyrgyzstan went ahead in this regard in comparison with other countries of the region.
Grigule expressed her confidence that sooner or later democracy will also develop in other countries with small steps.
