Bishkek, June 20, 2024. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is entering a different development trajectory through the construction projects of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the Kambarata hydro power plant-1, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov told speaking at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers expressed gratitude to the parliament members for ratifying the agreement on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.

“This is a very important historical event. This issue has been discussed since 1996; the first memorandum was signed in 1997. With the construction of this railway, we will turn from a dead-end country into a transit country. From 7 to 13 million tons of cargo will be transported on this railway per year, and we will benefit from transit. In addition, short access to the ocean will be provided and trade relations will be established with the countries of the Middle East and Europe. The European Union's GDP is over $25 trillion, while China's GDP is $18 trillion. In other words, China's market capacity is becoming limitless for us, like an ocean, and will allow us to remove the limitation that exists in the development of our economy. This will dramatically increase exports and make the trade balance positive. At the same time, real conditions are being created to achieve a GDP volume of 200 billion by 2050. We are entering a different development trajectory through these projects,” he said.

Akylbek Zhaparov emphasized that this convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh will remain in history as it made important decisions on the construction of historical projects - the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the Kambarata hydropower plant-1.
