Kyrgyzstan is for peaceful resolution of conflict exclusively by political and diplomatic methods – MFA on situation in Ukraine

Bishkek, March 2, 2022. / Kabar /. Director of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nurlan Suerkulov commented to the Kabar News Agency on the recall of Ukrainian ambassador to Kyrgyzstan by his president.

Suerkulov emphasized that the recall of the ambassador for consultations is the sovereign right of any state.

“The Ukrainian people and the leadership of the country are going through difficult times, difficult decisions are being made, so we do not intend to enter into polemics. It would be inappropriate now.

To prevent speculation in the information space regarding our position on the situation around Ukraine, we would like to recall certain theses of our position, which we officially announced both publicly and to the Ambassador of Ukraine (February 24, 2022).

Firstly, it is especially tragic that two fraternal peoples are involved in the current conflict, and human casualties could not be avoided.

Secondly, the Kyrgyz people have historically friendly relations with both the Russian and Ukrainian peoples.

Thirdly, we see with great disappointment that today the world, instead of uniting, in fact, is moving along the path of division into right and wrong, along the path of indiscriminate labeling. At the time of the active development of the conflict, we did not hear calls for peace from everyone. In this extremely dangerous time, we call on everyone to unite for a common peace.

Fourthly, we stand for the peaceful resolution of the conflict exclusively by political and diplomatic methods within the framework of the universally recognized principles and norms of international law. We welcome the start of negotiations. If some mechanisms for ensuring peace have ceased to work, we must jointly find new formats for an effective dialogue. All of us today must do everything possible to ensure that these negotiations are crowned with success and bring genuine mutual understanding, peace and development into relations not only between Ukraine and Russia, but also in a broader format. No further casualties and destruction should be allowed. New countries and actors should not be allowed to get involved in the conflict.

We wish the Ukrainian people a peaceful sky and are ready, as always, for mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries,” Suerkulov said.
