Bishkek, Nov. 5, 2021 . / Kabar /. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov met with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin on the margins of the First “European Union - Central Asia” Economic Forum.
Zhaparov emphasized that leaders of the two countries have set a task to bring the level of trade turnover between the two republics to $1 billion, the press service of the cabinet reported.
He added that this year there has been a steady growth in trade turnover, positive dynamics of attracting investment, and the intensification of bilateral contacts. However, the existing potential in mutual trade has not been realized.
"The Kyrgyz Republic is interested in attracting investment from Kazakhstan," the chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers said.
In turn, Kazakhstani Prime Minister Askar Mamin expressed interest in expanding trade and economic cooperation and deepening cooperation.
During the meeting, the sides debated issues of electricity supply from Kazakhstan and the transit of electricity through its territory. Instructions were given to heads of relevant ministries to study these issues.
The chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet and the Kazakh PM considered cooperation issues in joint projects to build wholesale and distribution centers, creation of an industrial trade and logistics complex with the attraction of Kazakh investments, as well as issues of functioning of Kazakh boarding houses in Issyk-Kul Oblast.
In addition, the opening of land border crossing points of Kazakhstan for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic who have received a vaccine against coronavirus infection were touched upon. Relevant ministries of the two republics will consider these issues.
Askar Mamin invited Akylbek Zhaparov to the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, to be held in November in Astana.
