Bishkek, June 25, 2021. / Kabar / . Deputy Chairwoman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Zhyldyz Bakashova met with Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan Shigeki Maeda.
During the meeting, bilateral cooperation issues were discussed, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers said Friday.
Zhyldyz Bakashova noted that Kyrgyzstan highly appreciates the assistance provided by Japan in various economic and infrastructure projects, and during the pandemic of coronavirus infection, cooperation and exchange of experiences in health and medicine is an important component of the Kyrgyz-Japanese relations.
"The urgent task today is to accelerate the pace of vaccination of the population of Kyrgyzstan, given the extremely low numbers of citizens vaccinated. In this regard, I request the Japanese Government to consider providing the Kyrgyz Republic with 1 million 100 thousand doses of coronavirus vaccines, as well as appropriate refrigerating equipment for storing vaccines.
I am convinced that the support of the Japanese side in the vaccination of the country's population in this difficult period will make a significant contribution to ensuring the necessary pace of vaccination and further overcoming the negative effects of the pandemic," the deputy chairwoman noted.
In turn, Ambassador Shigeki Maeda stressed the importance of vaccinating the population and compliance with the necessary safety measures amid spread of coronavirus infection.
The sides also discussed the purchase of vaccines and the implementation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project "Improvement of roads of international importance" in the Kyrgyz Republic.
