Bishkek, May 23 / Kabar /. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Japan Chyngyz Aidarbekov met with Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture Hidehiko Yuzaki and State Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan Ken Saito.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current directions of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Hiroshima prefecture. Ambassador Aidarbekov said that Kyrgyzstan is interested in increasing interaction with Hiroshima on a wide range of issues. One of the important areas of joint work could be cooperation in the field of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, given the well-known rich experience of the prefecture in this field and the zone created in Central Asia, free of nuclear weapons. He also noted that the Kyrgyz side is interested in developing relations in the spheres of trade, investment, business, culture and education. Aidarbekov, noting the particular relevance of cooperation in the field of sports, proposed to carry out preparatory training for Kyrgyz athletes, in particular in the prefecture, on the eve of the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.
Governor of Hiroshima Yuzaki said that nuclear technology, especially in the field of medicine, is developed in the prefecture. He expressed the opinion that upgrading the skills of Kyrgyz specialists in this field could become a promising direction of cooperation. The Governor also said that Kyrgyz specialists could raise knowledge of nuclear medicine in Hiroshima through the IAEA programs. In addition, the authorities of Hiroshima plan to double the number of foreign students studying in their universities. In this regard, he hoped that these plans will increase the number of Kyrgyz students in the prefecture.
At the end of the meeting, Governor Yuzaki invited Ambassador Aidarbekov to visit Hiroshima, during which the parties can more specifically discuss specific areas of interaction and hold meetings with local authorities, businessmen, academia and sports institutions.
