Bishkek, Sept. 27, 2018. /Kabar/. First Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Kubatbek Boronov signed the Global Compact on Achieving Universal Coverage of Health Services by 2030 on behalf of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The solemn ceremony of signing the Global Compact on Achieving Universal Coverage of Health Services by 2030 took place within the framework of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly taking place these days, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government reported.
"The health of the nation is the basis of the welfare of the state. In this context, the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic is moving in the same direction with all international health partners in order to achieve universal coverage of health services by 2030 in the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals,” First Vice Prime Minister Boronov said at the signing ceremony.
As noted, Global Compact participants will seek to work together to accelerate progress towards achieving universal coverage of health services.
Currently, 62 countries, apart from international organizations, are parties to the Compact on Achieving Universal Coverage of Health Services by 2030.
Achieving universal coverage of health services by 2030 is one of the most important goals of sustainable development included in the Post-2015 Development Agenda, adopted by the UN General Assembly on September 25, 2015.
The Kyrgyz Republic has undertaken to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and is making every effort to implement them in the national development programs.
The Draft Program of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on Public Health and Health System Development for 2019-2030 - "Healthy person - a prosperous country" - aims to achieve the goals of universal coverage of health services by 2030.
