Kyrgyzstan joins International Adult Competency Assessment Program

Bishkek, Oct. 25, 2018. /Kabar/. This year Kyrgyzstan joined the Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC), the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic reported on what it would give the country.

The institution explains that the PIAAC is the largest international assessment of the basic skills of the adult population, which is conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in 40 leading countries.

“Basic skills in the context of PIAAC refer to reading, math and information literacy of the population. These skills form the basis for developing higher level skills. The results of the research will allow to take concrete measures to improve the lifelong learning system,” the ministry noted.

Currently, experts from Kyrgyzstan are attending seminars and trainings to familiarize themselves with the PIAAC tool.
