Bishkek, Feb. 7, 2022 . / Kabar / . As of Jan. 15, 2022, there is a shortage of 929 teachers in schools of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science reported Monday.
Thus, the greatest shortage of teachers is observed in Chui Oblast - 305 people. Bishkek lacks 191 teachers, Batken Oblast - 142, Osh Oblast - 112, Issyk-Kul Oblast - 78, Jalal-Abad Oblast - 60, Talas Oblast - 20, Naryn Oblast - 12, and Osh City - 9 teachers.
Today there are more than 82,000 school teachers across the country. The shortage of teachers in some schools is solved by full-time teachers and recent graduates of higher education institutions of the republic.
For example, at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year, there was a shortage of more than 2,000 teachers in schools across the country. Much of that gap was filled by young teachers who graduated in 2021 with teaching degrees. This year, more than 4,400 graduates of Kyrgyz higher education institutions, studying on a budget and contract basis, are expected to become teachers.
