Kyrgyzstan, Latvia discuss return of illegally withdrawn funds

Bishkek, Oct. 28, 2024. /Kabar/. On Oct. 22-24, an interdepartmental delegation headed by Deputy Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan Malik Bekturganov visited Riga, Latvia.

The main purpose of the visit was to intensify and strengthen cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Latvia in the field of mutual legal assistance in criminal cases, including the return of stolen assets, the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic said.

The visit included talks with Prosecutor General of Latvia Juris Stukans, as well as meetings with representatives of the Economic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Financial Intelligence Service, the banking sector and other key agencies.

Discussions covered a wide range of issues related to joint efforts to detect, investigate and recover illicitly withdrawn funds, emphasizing the importance of strengthening international cooperation in these areas.

The visit contributed to deepening cooperation and building a stronger foundation for the effective resolution of legal issues of mutual interest.
