Bishkek, May 10, 2021. / Kabar / . A national campaign has been launched in Kyrgyzstan for the free issuance of identification cards – passports of Kyrgyz citizens of the 2017 sample (ID-card).
The issuance of ID-cards started in pursuance of the Presidential Decree of Sadyr Zhaparov.
Head of Kyrgyzstan’s State Registration Service Chynara Usupbayeva said the campaign was launched on May 1, 2021 and will last until Aug. 31, 2021.
"Previously it was planned to start free issue of ID-cards to 5 categories of people, but after the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, it covered citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic who suffered from it," she said.
In addition, Usupbayeva noted an active work is being carried out together with relevant state bodies to collect and verify documents.
Kyrgyzstan has started free issuance of ID-cards to following categories of citizens:
- 16-years-old children who are fully supported by the state and live in boarding homes;
- orphans under the age of 18 with deceased parents;
- persons with disabilities of all groups who are fully supported by the state and live in residential homes;
- pensioners who have reached the age of 70, including separately elderly citizens who are fully supported by the state and live in nursing homes;
- participants of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the Batken events;
- victims of the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
