Preparations have begun for the implementation of a pilot public-private partnership (PPP) project in the field of education in the Tash-Doba village council of the Chui region, Sanzhar Bolotov, director of the Center for Public-Private Partnership, told at a press conference at Kabar Agency.
According to him, the center, together with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), is actively working to improve the infrastructure, quality and accessibility of preschool education through the use of the PPP mechanism.
“We are carrying out relevant work to launch a pilot PPP project in the field of education in the Tash-Doba village of the Chui region. In addition, similar projects are being implemented in the Kara-Suu district of the Osh region, where a land plot has already been identified. Bishkek also resumed a project that had been frozen for a long time. To date, 3 land plots have been identified in the capital, work is underway,” he said.
In turn, the speaker of the Tash-Doba village council Almaz Kurmanbaev said that there are 3 preschool educational institutions in the entire district (6 villages with a population of more than 10 thousand people), today only 2 are functioning.
“Due to the lack of places, the kindergarten had to be set up in one wing of the school, which creates difficulties for the schoolchildren. I hope that the ongoing PPP project will help resolve this issue,” he said.
On the basis of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Public-Private Partnership” and the program for the development of public-private partnership in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2022-2026, it is planned to implement at least 7 PPP projects in the field of education with an investment of about 5 billion soms.
