Bishkek, June 16, 2022. /Kabar/. The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan launched the Save Glacier movement so that every Kyrgyzstani can contribute to the conservation of glaciers and the environment of Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, the Agriculture Ministry presented a premiere screening of a film dedicated to the Save Glacier movement.
Minister of Agriculture Askarbek Dzhanybekov, Jogorku Kenesh deputies, FAO senior policy expert Richard Moody and eco-activist Vlad Ushakov spoke at the event, as well as ecologists, eco-activists, and representatives of international organizations.
For the first time, the Kyrgyz Agriculture Ministry is forming a global policy for the agricultural sector, and initiating the Save Glacier movement.
"One of the priorities is the development of unproductive pastures. To develop is not just to grow grass or a tree on practically lifeless land, it is a huge and labor-intensive process, which in the future will save our land from the consequences of global climate change and most importantly will save the precious glaciers of Kyrgyzstan, which feed not only our country, but the entire Central Asian region," Dzhanybekov noted in his speech
After the demonstration of the film, an exhibition of works by eco-activist Vlad Ushakov was held.
