Bishkek, Aug. 23, 2024 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan nominated the film "Beyish Enenin Tamanynda" “Heaven is Beneath Mother’s Feet” in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars, member of the board of the Union of Cinematographers of Kyrgyzstan Talantbek Tolobekov told.
He said that the film by Ruslan Akun "Beyish Enenin Tamanynda" has been officially submitted for the Oscar Award. "This is a touching drama about motherly love and fortitude. This is a historic event for our cinema! Ruslan Akun, a talented director with a worldwide reputation, has created a true masterpiece that has already managed to win the hearts of viewers at many international film festivals. This film is not just a work of art, it is a message of peace and goodness from our people," he sid.
The film is about an adult man whose mental development stopped at age 8 and who continues to live with his mother. In order to make sure that his mother can go to heaven, he takes her by foot on a journey to Mecca.
The 97th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 2, 2025, at the legendary Dolby Theatre (Hollywood, Los Angeles).
Currently, Oscar committees in foreign countries are actively working on forming a long list of nominees. After a thorough selection, a special jury will compile a shortlist from which the winner will be chosen.
