Kyrgyzstan observes day of silence before elections and referendum

Bishkek, April 10, 2021 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyzstan observes day of silence ahead of the local council elections and the constititunal referendum.

The press service of the Central Elections Commission of the republic reported that printed campaign materials (leaflets, posters, billboards and other materials), previously placed outside the buildings and premises of election commissions, remain in their former places on the election day.

Elections of deputies to 448 local councils of which 420 are rural councils and 28 cities will be held tomorrow, April 11, 2021.The constitutional referendum will take place the same day, where the draft law on the Constitution of Kyrgyzstan is submitted to a nationwide vote.

A referendum to determine the form of government in Kyrgyzstan was held on Jan. 10 of this year, along with the early presidential elections. Then the presidential form of government was supported by 81.49 percent of voters. After that, a constitutional counsel was created, which developed a new draft of the Constitution.
