Bishkek, Jan. 9, 2021 / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan observes pre-election silence ahead of presidential elections and a referendum.
Thus, the election campaign of candidates and groups ended. They have no right to campaign. On the day of silence, voters can once again analyze the candidates' program and make their choice.
Also, the media and online publications are banned to conduct it.
Early presidential elections and a referendum on the form of government of the country will be held in Kyrgyzstan on Jan. 10, 2021.
17 candidates will compete for the presidency. Earlier there were 18 of them, but one of the contenders, Rashid Tagaev, applied to the the Central Election Commission (CEC) to revoke the documents for participation in the elections. His name will be crossed out on the ballot papers.
The early presidential elections will be held in Kyrgyzstan in connection with the resignation of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov on Oct. 15 after violent protests in Bishkek following the Oct. 4 parliamentary elections, the results of which were later annulled by the country’s CEC.
A referendum will be held to choose the form of government, a parliamentary or a presidential system.
According to data of the Central Election Commission, 3 million 563 thousand 574 voters will be able to vote.
