Bishkek, June 6, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan offered China a new operation algorithm for opening the Torugart checkpoint, Kyrgyzstan's Deputy Minister of Economy Eldar Alisherov told Kabar Agency.

He added an agreement to open Torugart earlier was reached in June.

"Last week, talks were held at the level of Kyrgyz and Urumqi Customs Service heads, where we offered the Chinese side an algorithm for cargo passage to ensure safety during coronavirus epidemic," Alisherov said.

The algorithm proposed by Kyrgyzstan is that cargo carrier gets PCR analysis while crossing the border without leaving the cab and waits for the results there. If the analysis is negative, he can pass through. Then, while loading a truck in China at Uluchat checkpoint, a cargo carrier also remains in the cabin and, without leaving, goes back.

"The Chinese side is now viewing this algorithm of work. The algorithm, which is currently in effect at the Irkeshtam checkpoint, does not satisfy our carriers," noted the deputy economy minister.

The new algorithm is scheduled to be discussed next week.
