Bishkek, Nov. 11, 2024. / Kabar/. The delegation of Kyrgyzstan, headed by Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision Meder Mashiev, is actively participating in the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which is taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Today, November 11, the opening of the national pavilion of Kyrgyzstan took place. The pavilion was created within the framework of the global initiative “Five Years of Action for Mountain Regions” for 2023-2027, which emphasizes the importance of the mountain agenda for Kyrgyzstan. The pavilion has become a central platform for promoting the interests and opportunities of the country, including its climate agenda, economic, energy and tourism potential. The pavilion also features a traditional yurt for bilateral meetings and a mini-exhibition with tasting of national products such as honey, dried fruits and chocolate.
COP29 is expected to attract more than 100 heads of state and government, as well as delegations from 150 countries, including Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov. The conference runs until November 22 and is expected to attract around 70,000 participants, making it one of the largest climate meetings ever.
