Kyrgyzstan plans to allow surgical sterilization for pedophiles

Bishkek, Oct. 18, 2021 / Kabar /. The Ministry of Health and Social Development of Kyrgyzstan submits for public discussion a draft resolution of the Cabinet (on the use of a surgical method to prevent unwanted pregnancy (surgical sterilization).

This project is aimed at protecting the rights and legitimate interests of women of reproductive age, ensuring universal access to the provision of health care.

The right to reproductive choice is the recognition of the human right to make free and independent decisions about their reproductive health, including the birth of children, the time of their birth and the intervals between the birth of children, including the right to make decisions about childbirth without discrimination, threats and violence, as well as recognition the right to receive relevant information. The right to reproductive choice, family planning, reproductive and sexual health care are fundamental human rights.

Reproductive rights include inalienable human rights and freedoms that are already recognized in national legislation, international human rights instruments and other generally accepted documents. For the first time, a comprehensive statement of reproductive rights was made at the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), held in 1994 in Cairo.

Reproductive health is defined by the World Health Organization as an essential component of overall human health. It implies a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, characterizing the ability of people to conceive and bear children, the possibility of sexual relations without the threat of sexually transmitted diseases, a guarantee of the safety of pregnancy, childbirth, the survival and health of the child, the well-being of the mother, the possibility of planning the next pregnancies, including the warning of unwanted.

The medical indications for surgical sterilization lists diseases such as cancer, endocrine system diseases, eating and metabolic disorders, mental and behavioral disorders such as schizophrenia, schizotypal and delusional disorders, bipolar disorder, mental retardation, pedophilia, diseases of the nervous system.

Also systemic atrophy, affecting mainly the nervous system, diseases of the circulatory system, diseases characterized by high blood pressure, diseases of the respiratory and digestive organs, etc.
