Kyrgyzstan plans to build solar power plant in Issyk-Kul by end of 2023

Bishkek, Dec. 29, 2022. / Kabar /. A joint venture has been set up to build a solar power plant in Issyk-Kul, the National Energy Holding reports.

According to the report of the company, statutory documents were signed between the subsidiary of the National Energy Holding "TazaEnergy" and the investment company of Kazakhstan "TGS-Energy Ltd." on the creation of a joint Kyrgyz-Kazakhstan enterprise LLC "Kun Bulagy" for the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 50 MW in Issyk-Kul Oblast.

The joint venture is aimed at implementing projects for the construction of solar power plants with a total capacity of 300 MW in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The total cost of the 50 MW Toru-Aigyr SPP project is USD 35 million. A land plot of 80 hectares is allocated for the implementation of the project.

The first project for the construction of a 50 MW solar station is planned to be implemented in Toru-Aigyr village of Issyk-Kul Oblast. Completion of the first stage of construction of the 50 MW Toru-Aigyr SPP is planned by December 2023, the operation life will be over 25 years. The future solar station will supply at least 90 million kWh to the grid in year.

The construction of a solar power plant will contribute to strengthening the energy security of the Kyrgyz Republic and will allow realizing the potential of renewable energy sources.
