Bishkek, June 14, 2021 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyzstan plans to extend the ban on the export of certain types of agricultural products outside the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The press service of the republic’s Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Regional Development is submitting for public discussion a draft resolution "On the introduction of a temporary ban on the export of certain types of agricultural products from the Kyrgyz Republic outside the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union”.
The purpose of this draft decree is to stabilize the situation in the domestic food market of the republic, preventing a critical shortage of agricultural products and increasing their prices.
The temporary ban is set for a period of six months from Jan. 8, 2021 on the following agricultural products:
- crop products - wheat, barley, corn, rice, fodder;
- food and processing industry products - wheat flour, vegetable oil, granulated sugar;
- livestock products - chicken eggs.
Due to Kazakhstan's restrictions on the export of live animals, and the launch of the Livestock Development Program in Uzbekistan, the mass export of farm animals outside the country is observed in Kyrgyzstan.
In addition, there was a decrease in imports of farm animals in the republic.
According to the results of the spring and autumn field work in 2020, the republic saw a decrease in the area of cultivation of certain crops, due to which the production of certain types of products was reduced.
In order to avoid negative consequences in the domestic food market, this project was initiated, which provides for the extension of the ban on the export of certain types of agricultural products until the end of 2021.
