Cholpon-Ata, May 26, 2021 . / Kabar / . In Kyrgyzstan, a census is planned to be held in September 2021, head of the department of Statistical Censuses and Geographical Information Systems Department of the National Statictics Committee of the country Rimma Chynybayeva told journalists.
She added the census will be held in electronic format for the first time. That is, census takers will input data into a special program, which will be downloaded onto a mobile smartphone.
A total of 25,000 census takers with smartphones are planned to be hired.
Rimma Chynybaeva said that pilot census was already conducted in some parts of Chui and Issyk-Kul Oblasts, as well as in the city of Osh.
In Kyrgyzstan, nationwide population census is conducted every 10 years. Previously, the census had been planned for March 2020. However, due to the pandemic, the campaign was postponed.
