Bishkek, Jan.21, 2025. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan plans to issue a $1.7 billion sovereign bond in Hong Kong for the first time, Minister of Economy and Commerce of the republic Bakyt Sydykov told in an exclusive interview with China Daily following his participation at the Asian Financial Forum.

“We consider the international capital market as an important and promising source of financing for our country.

The volume of the proposed issue is about $1.7 billion and the estimated maturity, according to earlier announcements, is about 10 years.

This will be the country's first entry into the international market. In preparation, we are actively working to improve our sovereign ratings and are working closely with advisors and banks that are supporting us.

In addition, we have held several roadshow information events, some of which took place in Hong Kong.

We view Hong Kong not only as a traditional financial center of the Asian region, but also as a significant player on the global stage. We aim to use Hong Kong's status as a financial center to attract more interest from investors, as well as to expand and diversify,” the minister said in an interview.
